PDF File Reader ("the App", "we", "our") is a lightweight document viewer that lets you open and read PDF files stored on your device. The App is designed as a reading tool — it does not host, publish, or share your documents with anyone.

This Privacy Policy explains what happens to the documents you open with the App and what technical information may be collected during normal use. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

When you open a PDF file, the App reads that file only for the purpose of displaying it to you. Document processing — including rendering pages, extracting text for search, and generating thumbnails — happens locally on your device.

We do not collect, upload, or transmit the content of your documents. The files you open remain under your control on your own device.

• Recently opened files — the App may keep a short list of your recent documents so you can return to them quickly. This list is stored locally and can be cleared by you at any time.
• Reading preferences — settings such as zoom level, page orientation, theme, and bookmarks are saved on your device so your reading experience stays consistent.

Like most apps, PDF File Reader may collect limited technical information to keep the app stable and to understand how it is used. This information does not reveal your identity on its own:

• Device details — device model, operating system version, App version, and language.
• Diagnostics — crash reports and error logs used to detect and fix problems.
• Advertising identifiers — where advertising is enabled, a non-permanent identifier may be used for ad delivery and measurement.
• Usage events — basic interaction data, such as how often the App is opened, used to evaluate feature adoption.

This category of information is processed in aggregated or pseudonymized form wherever possible.

The App requests only the permissions needed to function. Permissions may vary by Android version and device model:

• File access — used to open the PDF files you choose. On modern Android versions, this is handled through the system file picker, which lets you grant access to individual files without broad storage permission.
• Internet access — needed for advertising and analytics features when they are present in the build you are using.
• Network state — used to check whether a connection is available.

You can review or revoke permissions at any time through your device settings. The App does not require permissions it does not use.

We use the information described above for these purposes only:

• To render and display PDF files, including search, zoom, and bookmark features.
• To remember your reading preferences and recent files.
• To diagnose crashes, monitor stability, and improve the App.
• To serve and measure advertising where applicable, and to prevent abuse.
• To respond when you contact us for support.

The App may integrate a small number of third-party components for technical purposes. Depending on the build you use, these may include:

Such providers may process technical identifiers, diagnostic data, and advertising-related events in accordance with their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. They do not receive the contents of the PDF files you open.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Information is shared only in narrow, defined circumstances:

• With service providers that help us operate, analyze, or advertise the App, under confidentiality obligations.
• When required by law, regulation, legal process, or a valid government request.
• When necessary to protect the safety, rights, and property of users, the App, or the public.

Your documents and reading preferences remain on your device until you delete them, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. We maintain no server-side copy of your documents or reading history.

If you contact us by email, we may keep the correspondence and your email address for a reasonable period to resolve your request and maintain service records. You can ask us to delete this at any time.

Information processed by third-party providers is subject to those providers' own retention and deletion practices.

• Clear the App's data or uninstall it to remove locally stored files, settings, and recent-file history.
• Manage or revoke file access and other permissions through your device settings.
• Limit or reset advertising identifiers through your device settings where supported.
• Contact us to request deletion of email correspondence or to ask any privacy-related question.

We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information processed through the App. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The App is not directed to children under the minimum age required by applicable law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the App, legal requirements, or our practices evolve. The current version will always be available at this page with an updated effective date, and significant changes will be called out at the top of the page.
